The danish street artist, Don John has recently been called to participate to "WALL POETRY" a project by Urban Nation Berlin brought to the festival Iceland Airwaves 2016. This project brought together 10 musicians with 10 street artists. What emerged out of this mix are exceptional song interpretations adorning house walls in Reykjavík.

For this project, Don John chose to collaborate with the swedish singer Silvana Imam.

Music On Walls got the chance to speak with Don John about his recent collaboration.

Hi Don John, could you tell MoW why you did accept to participate to "WALL POETRY" this year?

I think the idea behind the project is great and I have worked together with Urban Nation Berlin before which always has been a good experience.

Among all the bands that will perform during Iceland Airwaves Festival, you have chosen to collaborate with Silvana Imam. Could you tell MoW why you decided to collaborate with this musician (and not another one)?

I like her music and felt it was a great source of inspiration.

Did you have contact with Silvana before starting painting?

Yes I send an mail to her and her manager, with a sketch of what I was planning to do. And they liked it instantly.

What is the song that has inspired you for your artwork?

It is not a specific song but the keyword she is working with called "Naturkraft" (force of nature). Plus the general aesthetics of her shows and music videos.
